Migration is a global phenomenon and Nepal is no exception to it. Though migration can be within or across borders; major concern of Nepal has been the movement of a large number of youths across border in search of employment. Statistics reveal that more than a thousand Nepali youths leave the country in search of better employment, majority of them reaching to the Gulf States and Malaysia. Most of the Nepali youths are working in the low earning jobs as the general labours in the construction, manufacturing and service sectors. However, their hard earned income is contributing to the national economy standing second to the agriculture in the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Income (GNI).
To draft the position paper of Nepal on Contemporary Issues of Migration for Employment from Nepal, the committee of 4 members was formed during the meeting organized by NNSM.
The 4 committee includes:
1. Mr. Nilambar Badal – Committee Head (Asian Forum)
2. Mrs. Manju Gurung – Member (Pourakhi Nepal)
3. Mr. Kishor Prasad Poudel – Member (Conquer Nepal)
4. Mr. Dev Chandra Rai – Member (NNSM)
On 7th August 2018, the preliminary Paper was drafted for review.
