Earthquake Victim Relief Programs

RESCUE, RELIEF, RECONSTRUCT & REHABILITATE PROGRAM FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS.

In the massive earthquake (7.9 richer scale) of April 25th and 12th May, 2015, making Gorkha and Dolakha Districts of Nepal as epicenter, thousands of people were killed, thousands were seriously injured and more than that almost all the historical places, monuments were damaged. In short, the massive earthquake caused death, damage and landslides. Moreover, all the sectors are affected by this earthquake. People are psychologically ill, all the health, education and other sectors are affected by this earthquake.

It has been almost 1 month, but 25% of people are still living in tents but remaining percentage of people are not still provided shelter (tents) by government sectors or by any social organizations. Due to topographical locations, relief activities could not be carried out properly. Even though government and social organizations are trying to rescue, relief, reconstruct and rehabilitate people, but no any significant result has been achieved.

Conquer Nepal, being a responsible registered organization working at Nepal, after the phase of rescue and relief, now is in the phase of reconstruction.

Even though we crossed a phase of rescue and relief, it is still insufficient. People still need relief like tents, long plastics, sleeping bags or blankets and more than that people are facing fooding problems. In this situation, Conquer Nepal is trying to provide relief to the victims of these massive earthquakes and is still appealing to our friends, members and other for support.

As Conquer Nepal in alliance with Government of Nepal, Department of Education, Sanothimi, Nepal is implementing project Vision of Nation: Technical Education from Childhood, Government is expected support in making Temporary Learning Centers (TLC) at Sindupalchowk Districts (One of the District which is severely affected by Earthquake).

Due to earthquake, education sector has been most affected. In only Sindupalchowk Districts, out of 557 government schools, 468 schools are damaged (out of which 342 schools are at critical condition, 136 schools has major damaged, 332 ECD were damaged). In those schools, tentatively 77000 students were enrolled, but now there is no place for school, no place for teachers and no place to learn. So that Government had decided to make TLC’s. Talking about at Sindupalchowk District, according to Government 1270 TLC’s are required but government alone cannot construct it, So, Government is seeking support from our organization as Conquer Nepal is partner organization of Government of Nepal.

In one TLC, at a time 60 students can be taught. Beside TLC, temporary toilets also should be constructed. Moreover, government is also seeking experts human resource for psychosocial counseling. Nevertheless, again the problem is that students are now homeless, that means they have no clothes, dresses, uniforms, fooding materials and most important books, pen, pencils and note copies. (In short Students Kits, Schools Kits and ECD Kits).

Hence, Conquer Nepal is trying to support all these materials to at least preparing 50 to 100 TLC’s.

Then tentative cost of 1 TLC is NPR 1, 20,000. So, Conquer Nepal would like to appeal all friends over world, members, individuals and organizations to support us for the better future of thousands of students and bright future of Nepal.

Conquer Nepal with the support of all volunteers, international people, local political party (Shiv Sena Nepal) performed following activities.

  • Food Distribution to the victims
